I understand our website is now
ready. Allison hope to get together in the next few weeks and
accomplish the update. Keep checking!
Meanwhile,
PLEASE DO NOT USE THE "Email Us" link.
It is broken, and I don't have the expertise to even find where it is (I
found everything else!). If you wish to contact NRHRC, please send an
email to: mayhemccrs@verizon.net.

ABOUT NRHRC
Navesink
River Hunting Retriever Club was founded in 1985 to promote the training of
retrievers in New Jersey. Today we continue with this effort by hosting
training sessions and licensed hunt tests as well as club Gun Dog tests
through out the year. Our members come from New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and
New York, with most of our events being held in the central NJ area.
The dogs trained by club members are just as diverse and while the majority
are Labrador Retrievers, we also have Golden Retrievers, Curly Coated
Retrievers, Flat Coat Retrievers, Nova Scotia Duck Tollers, Chesapeake Bay
Retrievers, and Boykin Spaniels. We welcome people and dogs of all ages and
abilities. While some members are also breeders and are working toward
obtaining titles on their dogs, others are training for a better trained
hunting dog or just a better companion.
We are affiliated with the North
American Hunting Retriever Association (NAHRA), an association dedicated
to the conservation of game through the use of trained retrievers. There are
currently 12 clubs in the North East Region of NAHRA hosting tests
throughout the year, as well as several clubs in the Mid Atlantic Region.
For more information on the NAHRA program visit
www.nahra-news.org.
We invite you to come to a training
session if you are interested in what we do. Check out our calendar of
events for information.

A MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT
Welcome to the Navesink River Hunting Retriever Club!
Please take a moment and browse through our website, as it could lead to the
best decision you’ll make since becoming a dog owner.
Our club offers an environment that can help you and your dog achieve skills
beyond your training expectations. Whether you simply want a happy, safe and
obedient pup; a dependable hunting companion; or you aspire to earn the
title of Grand Master Hunting Retriever, our club can help you realize those
desires and dreams.
We are a group comprised of average people—husbands, wives and families—who
have an extensive knowledge of retriever training. We support and encourage
each other and enjoy sharing our experience with new trainers.
Club training sessions offer an opportunity to learn a variety of training
skills—from beginning to advanced—and just as important, they offer your dog
an opportunity to learn social skills around other dogs and people that
training by yourself doesn’t provide.
Training a dog for the field can be a challenge, especially if it’s your
first “real” hunting dog. All of our members have been there and have
learned valuable lessons—lessons you can take advantage of by avoiding
similar mistakes and keeping training simple and straightforward for your
dog.
Our members run their dogs in NAHRA and AKC hunt and field tests and have
won top honors in New Jersey Waterfowlers and Tuckerton Decoy Show gun dog
competitions. Some of our members however have no interest in competition
and just enjoy training outstanding hunting retrievers—which is what we’re
all about. As a collective force, our club can make training easier and more
enjoyable for both you and your pup.
While browsing our site look at the calendar of events and make plans to
join us at a club training day or feel free to call or email any member or
officer. You won’t be disappointed. For a real treat try to attend our hunt
test in May where you will see some of the best dog and handler teams from
the north east.
Hope to see you training in the future!
Rodger Parkhust
Club President
